Viva la holidays
December 28, 2007 at 3:52 pm | In job | 1 CommentIt is so slow at work right now, you have no idea.
When I got here at 2pm, the presses were already shut down for the day. That’s never happened in the 10 months I’ve been working here. Without the constant hum of the machines, it’s eerily quiet.
[Sharon goes to the back to check the fax machine for orders.]
Nope. Still nothing.
[Sharon checks the email orders. There are 2 orders to download.]
Ok, so there’s no longer nothing to do now. Still, it’ll probably take me less than 10 minutes to process these orders, then I’m back to square one.
[15 minutes later. . ]
So, it took me a little longer than I expected. I had to manipulate some artwork. And now Richard has brought me three more cards to typeset. With that, I’ll say adieu.
The day after. . . *updated*

@ my grandparents’ house - 12.25.2007
After 4 days of vacation I must now return to the daily grind.
Movie Night
December 16, 2007 at 7:15 pm | In entertainment, movies | No CommentsTags: dvds, entertainment, movies
Having exhausted the list of movies I wanted to purchase, I’ve gone back to rentals. Tonights selection includes:
In the Land of Women (Adam Brody, Meg Ryan, Kristen Stewart)
Rescue Dawn (Christian Bale)
Waitress (Kerry Russell, Nathan Fillion)
The Bourne Ultimatum was the only movie I was awaiting to purchase on DVD this year. Picked it up on Tuesday.
There aren’t many movies in theaters that I want to see right now. It’s a big maybe as to whether I’ll indulge in I Am Legend. I do really want to see August Rush and National Treasure: Book of Secrets (Riley Poole is my favorite character). I’d also like to see an indie film called Juno, but it’s release is limited and it’s not playing in any theaters nearby. A few years ago there was a theater open that featured more independent films, but it’s since closed down. However, I’ve heard that an independent movie theater will be opening Downtown sometime next year, so that’s cool.
. . . . . . .
Here’s a cute picture from last weekend’s karaoke night:

<sarcasm>Braces are so awesome. I think, everyone, if given the opportunity, would jump at the chance to experience the joy that is sporting orthodontic appliances in your mid-twenties (my gosh, I’m in my mid-twenties?!)*. It’s a good way to lose weight, at that. What, with all the things you’re forbidden to eat—porcorn, hard/sticky candy, nuts, gum, anything hard and crunchy, i.e. bread crust—and I’ve eaten all of these things.</sarcasm>
Seriously, the target age group for braces must be a nightmare for orthodontic doctors to deal with. I remember back in middle school, kids were eating all that stuff—mostly the candy—all the time.
At my last orthodontist appointment, I began wearing Class II’s, which has something to do with the heavier wire and the elastics (rubber bands) across my brackets. I also have some latex rubber bands that I have to change about three times a day that are adjusting my bite. I’ve been wearing them for about 5 weeks, and, I must say, the change in my bite is quite noticeable. The shape of my mouth has also changed slightly, and it’s kinda weird looking at myself in the mirror, trying to get used to this evolving smile of mine.
I got a copy of my the photos of my teeth before I got my braces put on. I guess I’ll post the before and after when my treatment is done. Only 11 months more to go, if every thing’s on schedule.

.
My 365 Days Project has suffered greatly over the past few weeks. Kendall said I’d get tired of taking photos of myself. . . Still I got a good ways through before I dropped off. Now, I’ll just settle for trying to take a photos of something, if not myself, for the next 30 or so days until January 2, 2008.
Photo of the Day: December 5, 2007

Melody, my favorite barista. She’s like a coffee-bearing pixie.
*My sister was talking with a male acquaintance in a conversation about our relative ages. She told him that I had just turned 25, to which he replied something like, “Twenty-five?! I didn’t know she was that old.” . . . Thanks for that, Jess. I’m sure he meant that I look younger than my years.
November: a day for a year

11.02.2007 - Travis from Gym Class Heroes performs for the Young Wild Things Concert Tour in Orange Beach, AL. They were my favorite act of the night, and they performed my favorite of their songs, so it was cool seeing them live.

11.03.2007 - Vincent, age 4. He’s such a cutie.

11.08.2007 - Another late night.

11.09.2o07 - Service awards were presented to employees for their years of working for the company. Food followed. I wasn’t too thrilled about the hamburgers and hot dogs, but the potato salad catered by Naman’s was hittin’. That’s Jessica hamming it up.

11.15.2007 - I have too many photos of myself in the mirror wearing this shirt.

11.16.2007

My sis working on a suit she’s wore on the Special Assembly Day.

While attempting to take my self portrait for the day at work one evening, the shutter fired prematurely.

11.22.2007 - Chloe, age 5.

11.22.2o07 - Maria, age 3.

11.22.2007 - Chloe’s not too thrilled about Maria’s affections.

But, they manage to make peace coloring together. . .

. . . and playing together.

11.25.2007 - Special Assembly Day. It’s Cynthia, looking lovely. I shot her wedding back in February.

11.25.2o07 - Laura and baby Tyler. He’s so precious.

11.25.2007 - Nicole. . .details, details.

11.30.2007 - The caboose. I’ve developed a fondness for the jeans sold at Buckle.
And, I’m 25 now.
