Place: University of South Alabama campus

It was a very muggy day, but Mr. White wanted to have a photo shoot (he wanted to get some shots of his fauxhawk before he cut it), so out we went. The only good thing about the weather was that the overcast skies caused for there not to be harsh shadows. However, it was this shoot that finally convince me to get my 50mm lens. The shots just weren’t coming out like I wanted. I needed a new lens because I just wasn’t getting what I wanted. I did end up getting a few decent shots towards the end.

The annual Kingdom Hall clean up took place. I got a chance to utilize my new lens (Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM Medium Telephoto Lens), and I am loving it so far.

So, about this weight thing

February 15, 2008 at 10:17 am | In achievement, life | 1 Comment

I’ve never been one to be overly concerned about my weight. I’ve been pretty slim most of my life. However, during, I gained about 30 pounds, bringing my body type to what most people would call average. I still wasn’t “fat.” But I definitely wasn’t in shape either. However, over the past year, I’d been more attentive to my body and my slow weight gain. It gets kinda old not being able to fit into your favorite shirt. And, after purchasing this really cute pencil skirt from Old Navy.com and having the fit be a little to snug, I resolved not to gain any more weight, but actually, for a change, try and lose some until the the skirt fit comfortably. It was really cute, after all.

So, I did that. I guess I lost about 5-7 lbs for the skirt to fit awesomely. Then I kinda stopped. I’m not opposed to physical activity, but I’ve discovered that I seriously dislike working out in a gym. I like doing “activities” like walking around/exploring a new place, but not doing it just to be exercising. Or doing laundry and folding clothes, cleaning up my room. Things like that.

The last few months or so, I decided to see if I could lose some more weight. I figured out that I have a relatively small frame, and I don’t like junk food. As long as I watch the proportions of food, I could lose weight pretty easily. Since turning 25 a few months ago, I realized that the older I get, the harder it will be to lose any weight, so I might as well do as much as I can right now. So, much thanks to Panera and their awesome soups, as well as just not eating everything, I’ve managed to loose about 10 more pounds. Great, right? Not so great when all the new clothes I just bought are slightly baggy now, including my expensive jeans from Buckle. However, they do free tailoring, so that’s a consolation, at least.

And then there’s the moment when I catch my reflection in the mirror, and see how slim my arms have gotten, and that my tummy isn’t so round and I think to myself, “Hey, I’m getting kinda hot.”

50 millimeters of AWESOME.

Since I’m gonna be paying for my spending in the month of January for the next few years with my car purchase and my computer unexpectedly breaking, I figured I might as well throw something on there that I actually wanted. So I finally bought that 50mm f/1.4 lens that I’ve been drooling over for the past several months.

I still have yet to fully test it out, but I am happy with it’s capabilities so far. I love the shallow DoF and resulting blur.

01.26.2008 - Me @ a photo shoot on USA’s campus.

So sorry to any of you who were anxiously (ha!) awaiting my next blog post. I remain the ever-procrastinating artist(?).

I have been creating lately, which involved writing my first Stargate Atlantis fan fiction (<—geek!) back in December. It’s a good exercise though. Maybe eventually I’ll move on to my own original characters.

I still have yet to give my new 50mm lens a good workout, though.

And I so do not want to go to work today, but that’s not exactly news, now, is it?

Anyways, I’ll see what I can do about getting something up tonight in the form of photos.

Another day, minus the dollar

Another day at work.

January was a pretty productive month, so the year is off to a pretty good start.

 1. Started doing Bible reading and Daily Text more regularly.

2. Purchased my first car: ‘05 Mazda 3.

4. Had another photo shoot with Mr. White.

3. Finally purchased the 50mm lens that been sitting in my amazon.com shopping cart for the better part of a year.

I’ll update later with photos.
